When you create an account, we collect your email address. As you use XcelCollege, we store what you type into the app — your personal essay draft and version history, your activities list, the schools and supplement essays you add, your timeline checklist, and your recommendation letter requests and brag sheets. We don't collect anything beyond what you actively enter into the app.
Your account and everything you type is stored in a database hosted by Supabase, a third-party database provider. Data is protected so that only your own logged-in account can read or write your own information — this is enforced at the database level, not just in the app's design.
You are the only person who can see the actual content of your essays, activities, and letters. The site administrator can see account-level information — your email, signup date, whether you have an active subscription or free/complimentary access, and when you last saved progress — but cannot read your essay drafts, activities, or personal answers through the admin tools this site provides.
We use passwordless, email-based sign-in (a one-time link sent to your email) instead of storing passwords. This means we never store a password for your account at all.
If and when paid plans are introduced, payment is handled entirely by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your card number or other payment details ourselves.
Many XcelCollege users are high school students. If you are under 18, we encourage you to review this policy with a parent or guardian before creating an account. We do not knowingly collect more information than what's described above, and we do not sell or share your information with advertisers.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
XcelCollege uses your browser's local storage only for minor interface preferences, and uses standard authentication tokens (managed by Supabase) to keep you signed in between visits. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.
Your data is kept as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and all associated data deleted, contact us using the information below and we will remove it.
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated on the site.
